Acoustic Sash Windows

A beautiful cottage, in a village in Berkshire was bought by our clients, a newlywed couple who had plans to renovate it to become a perfect first family home. After living in the cottage, they discovered there was a lot of traffic noise from the road outside, which especially disturbed their sleep.  They needed  some Acoustic Casement Windows.

Whyte & Wood Solution

We felt it was really important to maintain the period cottage charm, so designed a window to suit its character. We used authentic period moulds with multi-panes in a configuration typical for the property. The glass units we specified incorporated 8.8mm acoustic glass to the external pane and we used acoustic grade draughtproofing, greatly reducing the noise level in the bedrooms. We colour matched Farrow & Ball’s Wimborne White into our specialist paint and spray applied for an even, long lasting finish. Now our clients have finished renovating their home, they can enjoy spending time as a family rather than maintaining their windows and doors.

What The Client Said

“We really like the fact that everything has been custom made for us – the design of the windows, the paint finish, the hardware and even the type of glass. The satin frosted glass in the downstairs cloakroom adds privacy. The acoustic glass in the bedrooms which face onto the road is fantastic in reducing the noise. We would have no hesitation in recommending you and will definitely be in touch if we move and need replacement windows in our new house. We certain the windows in this house won’t need replacing for a generation!”
